For Yankee lovers and haters alike, the 1947 Yankees club was a team to love, and Mr. Strauss's work is magnificent. With keen analysis, Strauss brings the 1947 season to life, and captures the personalities and dynamic of the unlikely cast of characters who marked the start of the Yankees second great dynasty. This book is a must-read, and as an avid Yankees fan, I wish our current teams were more like the 1947 club.

In Dawn of a Dynasty, Frank Strauss presents a group of teammates who 'enjoyed' little public expectation of greatness, the 1947 Yankees. At that time, baseball organizations were much more limited in their ability to sure-up their teams. Baseball was not a game of quick-fixes back then there were few big money off-season deals and no high-science drug regimines. Teams were at the mercy of time, they had to do the best they could with what they had, and the Yankees had old men and young boys. Yet from this team of low expectations emerged a franchise whose name is synonymous with terms such as champions and winners. Indeed, it is due to the accomplishments of this group of teammates in 1947, and in subsequent years, that the entire free-world expects the Yankee organization to field a championship-level team each year. This is a fantastic book that brings to life the beginnings of the Yankees as we know them today - a pop-culture icon of greatness.
A MUST FOR ALL SPORTS FANS

Brings back memories of watching great teams play back in the 50's. Great reading for all sports fans. An era when players loved the game and played with heart.
