With the imminent dismantling of fabled Yankee Stadium, a new book by Frank Strauss, Dawn of a Dynasty: The Incredible and Improbable Story of the 1947 New York Yankees, provides readers with a nostalgic look back at one of the most memorable seasons in the history of the legendary ballpark.

With a forward by Bobby Brown, a member of the 1947 Yankee team who later served as President of the American League, Dawn of a Dynasty recalls the author’s memorable meeting with Babe Ruth and features the game-by-game exploits of the players who brought New York City its first post-war championship.

The book introduces readers to the many veteran Yankee players returning to baseball following their World War II service including Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto, Tommy Henrich and Charlie Keller as they attempt to blend with rookies Yogi Berra, Frank Shea and Bobby Brown.

Following a record-tying nineteen game winning streak in mid-season, the Yankees capture the American League pennant and go on to play a memorable seven-game World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers – led by Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese and Gil Hodges.

The unforgettable 1947 Yankee team truly marked the Dawn of a Dynasty, launching a remarkable record of winning fifteen American League pennants and ten world championships between 1947 and 1964.

     This is their story.
